Three Vietnamese universities find a place in the global rankings by subject published by Times Higher Education (THE) on Wednesday.
They include the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in the 301-400 group, the Hanoi branch of the Vietnam National University (401-500) and its Ho Chi Minh City branch (601-800) in engineering and technology.
The annual rankings by THE, a British provider of higher education data, list Times Higher Education (THE), a 1,008 universities around the world.

In the computer science category, HUST and the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City are ranked 601+ out of 759 universities.
In September, the three schools were also the first in Vietnam to enter the general Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
HUST and the Vietnam National University-Hanoi were in the 801-1000 group while the Ho Chi Minh City branch of Vietnam National University was placed in the 1001+ group.
The THE 2020 world university rankings are based on 13 indicators across teaching, research, knowledge transfer, revenue collected from business collaboration, and international outlook.
The method is slightly adjusted, depending on the subject, for the rankings by subject.
